FAO Schwarz Customers

After you have bought your paper doll kit from FAO SCHWARZ, you will receive a pamphlet with information about the steps to complete your paper doll. Inside the pamphlet, you will find a form to fill out with your name, address, body type, etc. The next step will be to return this information via email or mail along with a photo of yourself or the child.

IMPORTANT TIPS FOR YOUR PHOTO
 
 ►    Your neck is necessary.
Make sure the neck is visible; no turtlenecks or scarves and       move any stray strands of hair that may be obstructing it

►  Eye Level
Make sure the camera is at eye level with subject. If you are taller, bring the camera to her height before you shoot the picture, otherwise the doll's head may be at an unflattering angle, and the the top of the head isn't cropped off.


►  Full light - No shadows

►   Photo Quality
  • If you send it by email, make it a jpeg , resolution between 72 and 150 - approximately 3” x 3”
  •  If you send it by mail, do not send a copy on plain paper.  We do send your photos back to you with your doll.
  • In both cases: be sure that the photograph, as sent, is the quality that you will be happy with for the paper dolls.  Printing flaws such as horizontal lines or blurriness, etc. somewhat transfer to the product. The dolls will be made with the photo as is.

Don'ts that won't make flattering Dolls:
  
 






Don't send a picture that's too small.

The head on the doll will be ~ 1 inch, the
head in your picture should be near that size
or larger:
 



Don't send us a photo on plain paper.

           It washes you out:




Don't send us a side view:



Don't  lean into the camera:




Don't take your picture from above:








 
 Don't send us a blurry picture:








Don't obstruct your neck.  It will seem unnatural if we have to transplate one:




 
Don't cut your head off:






Don't be 1/2 in light and 1/2 in shadow:







Don't take picture from below:


Keep in mind if your hair hangs down in front it will be under your clothes
